"Memories are motionless, and the more securely they are fixed in space, the sounder they are"
- The Poetics of Space
As described by Henri Lefebvre, because each living body is space and has its own space, it produces itself in space and it also produces a space around itself. Therefore, the tendency to project and imprint ourselves onto the physical spaces around us.
Our deployment onto physical spaces makes us inseparable from them and we fear that losing them may incur losing a part of ourselves as well. This action extends and solidifies the space Lefebre believes our body produces. Overtime, our memories and emotions get ingrained in these spaces and they become very much part of us.
